The PCU is alsocalled the drum unit or the imaging unit. There is one for each color (C,M,Y& K). Each PCU has a 'life' and the machine will ask you to replace it whenit has reached the end of its expected life. The PCU life has nothing to dowith the amount of toner that you have in the cartridges and they need to bechanged independently. As for Ricoh SP C811dn, after you change the PCU, you need to reset the PCU on the printer.
When "Replacedrum unit" Appears on the Display, press the "up" key
and the"down" key on the Ricoh printer at the same time and hold for
morethan five seconds. And then press the OK button. Carry out the
followinginstructions to reset the Ricoh SP C811dn.
First, go into theprinter's main menu and enter the SP (Service Protocol) mode.
Second, once youenter SP mode, press the [Engine] key.
Third, click thekey of [7 Date Log]
Fourth, Scrollto display [Maintenance. Reset: PCU] and press the [Enter] key. Press the [804pm count reset] key.
At last, when data002---BK, 003---M, 004---C, 005---Y are displayed, the reset is executed andyou can exit the program.
